Twilight sat heavy over Satan City. The silence was heavy, almost heavy enough to suffocate anything that dared make a single sound. Most inhabitants of the city were sound asleep, most. Even in the threatening quiet, individuals scurried around. These were the earliest of early birds, heading off to work; or the latest of night owls, shuffling towards their beds. But a similarity was present in everyone, they all knew better than to make more noise than absolutely necessary.
Shadows surrounded the outer edges of the city. A figure stepped in through the shadowy boundaries. Jinsoku had just returned after his latest journey. The elderly man was well aware of the habits within Satan City, and as such as soon as he passed the first building, his footsteps became near silent. The human headed in the direction of his home, keeping an eye on the people who walked by or crossed his path. Despite the lack of activity from Freiza and his goons, Jinsoku knew it wasn't Hercules doing. It wasn't Hercule... But I'm not sure what it was... the man stopped focusing on his surroundings as he fell into his mind. He hadn't lived in Satan City when it happened, but he had heard many accounts of it. Everyone seemed sure it was Hercule, but Jinsoku knew better, know better.

It was getting late, nighttime had just begun to settle over the city when Hiro had flown in using Videl's aircraft. It had been a little while since then though, considering how extra cautious he felt he should be about landing the helicopter with as few people hearing as possible. Now it was hidden behind some large building where he hoped that it wouldn't be spotted, and the city was so quiet right now Hiro was confident it would be safe where he left it.
Now... the little boy only had to locate a place where he could acquire bandages, and all that other junk that belongs in a good first aid kit. He needed to bring it back to that Gohan person's house all the way back at Mount Paozu, but of course night had fallen much sooner than he thought it would, leaving the task more difficult what with him having to locate the stuff in the dark city.
Hiro took to running, wanting to find what he needed as fast as possible in the hope of finishing the task with ease. Running under the shadows of the city's tall buildings posed all kinds of trouble for the human, to be blunt he lost his way, that is if he even had one in the first place... Stopping, he twisted and turned, trying to take in his surroundings and regain his sense of direction.
And as soon as he thought he had figured where he was, Hiro picked up the pace again. His actions resulted only in failure, he was soon tripping over his scarf mere seconds later. "Ah, no!" he shouted, immediately slamming into something big.

Jinsoku was making his way through the shadows in a relatively lax pace. There was no urgency in the elderly man at all. The sun wasn't even peeking over the horizon yet, although the distant sky was getting brighter. Maybe it's because he began to let his guard down. Maybe it's because no one was around. Maybe it was a case of wrong place wrong time. Maybe because Jinsoku hadn't glanced behind him in a long time. Or maybe it was because he was old.
The man heard an "Ah, no!" from somewhere behind him and a split second later. Game. Over. Jinsoku had absolutely no time to investigate the noise. Probably because the noise decided to investigate Jinsoku. Something collided with the man and down he went. He had just enough time to break his fall the his hands, though; tall men usually fall for a longer amount of time, ya'know.
The human supported himself with his arms as he looked around. A little kid was down on the ground which led Jinsoku's supreme powers of deductive reasoning to conclude that this midget had attacked Jinsoku and passed out in the attempt. "... Good enough for me..." he mumbled, lowering himself to the ground until he rested his forehead on the cold pavement. Jinsoku felt dots of blood on his palms, but aside from those few scratches the old man was perfectly fine, despite not moving anymore.

Gah... what had gotten into his path this time? At first, Hiro had been expecting to look up and see that it had been the side of a building, or even a pole or something, that he had bumped into. But there was nothing in front of him anymore... There was, however, something on the ground near him...
"Oh man!" It was some guy, an old man. And by the time the boy had noticed and really began to look at the person on the ground beside him, the old man was no longer moving...! "H--hey, are you okay?" he asked in a worrying sort of tone that could have only arisen from the fact that Hiro was terrified he might have killed a frail old person. Knocking the elderly over could result in that sort of thing, couldn't it?!
Still on the ground, he moved onto his knees before beginning to creep closer toward the seemingly lifeless body. "Are you dead, old guy?" he asked while taking a gulp. It helped with the anxiety, the feeling that accompanies the thinking that you might have just killed someone innocent by accident. Hiro poked two of his fingers into the person's side as he finished asking his question, hoping to get a response.

Jinsoku yawned as he laid facedown on the sidewalk. Just another day in the life and times of J. Ookmai... he thought to himself, reverting back to his unmoving state.
Jinsoku heard an "Oh man!" At which point he exhaled slowly, it was always the elderly that were being abused and knocked around city streets, and what for? Because they walk slower than everyone else? Well shit, Jinsoku thought, Maybe I'll just run from now on.
[/i] "H--hey, are you okay?" Jinsoku heard some fear in the young boy's voice. Oh goodie, maybe now he'll think twice before plowing head first into the helpless and defenseless people of the world. Jinsoku heard as the boy got to his knees and shuffled toward his body, "Are you dead, old guy?" And a few seconds later the old man felt two fingers poke his side. "Yes, extremely dead. You've done ended my poor miserable old life, son. Done. Dead as could be. I'll never see the sun rise again," Jinsoku raised his arm and pointed toward the horizon, where the sun was almost peaking out, "And it was so very close..."[/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Nuh uh, you're not," he said stubbornly, refusing to believe that the old man was dead yet still speaking. Breathing out a sigh of relief, the boy leaned back onto his legs. He wiped his brow, quite grateful that he had not in fact accidentally killed an elderly man.
"You would'a stayed quiet if you were really dead, can't fool me!" Hiro rose to his feet, his legs were still a little wobbly from the fall but it was nothing he couldn't handle.
That last bit of what the old guy was blabbering about grabbed Hiro's attention more than the rest. He watched the man's arm slowly raise toward the sky, which did confuse him at first, but then he too could see what was meant by it. From just beneath the horizon, tiny streaks of light from the sun were already managing to peek into the sky. No longer was the world colored with deep blues, now it had turned to faded grayish blues and faint signs of orange as well. "Oh no, look at how much time I've wasted already!"

Jinsoku laid there, his arm still up pointing to towards the ever rising sun. "Nuh uh, you're not," The old man listened silently as the young boy continued speaking, "You would'a stayed quiet if you were really dead, can't fool me!" Jinsoku finally brought his arm down and rolled over to his back. "You'd be surprised what the dead can do," he began as he got into an upright sitting position, "Why one time, I was far out in Mount Paozu when I came across this corpse, now mind you, I had nothing to do with it's death but as I went over to exam--" he was cut short as the boy said something about wasting time.
"Ah yes, what is a young man like yourself doing out so early? I'm sure your parents won't be too happy to see you out of bed already." Jinsoku state, standing up. He looked around, surely the child couldn't have wondered too far from home... Then again, "Or are you in some sort of trouble? You were running as if Frieza himself was after you," Jinsoku knelt down to one knee and looked the boy in his eyes, "What's goin' on?"

”My parents are dead, so no one’s anywhere worryin' about me, or wonderin' why I’m not in bed, or anythin' like that,” the boy stated in a matter-of-fact tone of voice. Immediately thereafter, he shook his head hurriedly from side to side, as if to lose the focus of that subject from his mind.
Why? Because he had no time to waste thinking about what was in the past, when in the here and now Hiro already felt as though he was spending a whole lot of time doing a whole lot of nothing. Sure, Videl wasn’t at death’s door or anything of that nature, the only real reason why he was in any sort of rush was because he didn’t want to be in the city for very long. She had warned him that any populated place could be dangerous, even one under the protection of Mr. Satan.
The guy, anciently old as he was, towered over the boy many times over as he rose to his feet. Hiro craned his neck back as he watched the man stand at his full height, baffled as to how he had knocked such a person over in the first place. Then continued to watch further as they met at eye level. ”Not in trouble, just on a mission. A very important retrieval mission!” Hiro grinned a childish, one front tooth missing, type of grin.
