Gelid is a changeling. Unlike other most other changelings he is not outright evil or malicious. His cruelty is usually reserved for opponents he fights, though he is generally cold(<_< No pun intended) towards everyone as far as social interaction goes.

I'm hoping to develop him into one of the good guys eventually, or at the very least have him form an alliance with the characters that defend Earth when the fit hits the shan.

The thing I'm lacking is a reason for the transition. Though he's already growing slightly attached to the planet because he's been stuck here a while, that wouldn't be enough to keep him here if he got the opportunity to leave or enough reason for him to willingly defend it when fighting breaks out. If someone has ideas or suggestions, they would be much appreciated!

Well my changeling has been on earth for 400 years so she can talk and show him just what is good about earth. She also is a very good natured person and maybe him seeing how she behaves would show him through love and kindness good can come from any race.

This does provide an interesting opportunity. Gelid's only friend in the past was his twin sister, who he believes dead at the moment, and Revas may be able to reach him on a social level because she would remind him of his sister, I'm sure. Especially if she treats him with even a shred of respect and kindness, which I expect to happen given your character's personality.
